“My addiction had taken full control of me and I was living my life as close to the bottom as I ever hope to see. I didn’t know where to go or what to do, but, with help from my Dad, I found my way to the Last Resort. On arrival, I received a warm welcome from a loving staff and an unbelievably understanding band of brothers. Ninety days seemed like a long time, but the safe and totally positive atmosphere at the Last Resort reassured me that my Dad had chosen the right place to begin my journey in recovery. When it came time, it was tough to say goodbye, but I was excited and ready to begin my new life. I loved my time at the TLR and as I’ve grown in sobriety I’m more and more grateful to the staff and the brothers that made it all possible.“

“First of all let me express my love for The Last Resort. Never have I been to a facility where the staff genuinely cared so much for their residents and for their families. The staff is very knowledgeable and was able to relate to all of the clients. The program is Big Book intensive but they gave it to me as a SUGGESTION ONLY. This made the choice to become sober my own, as TLR is so much different than any other facilities I’ve ever been in. The staff never gave up on me or on my fellow residents. They loved and believed in us when we couldn’t believe in or love ourselves.“
“The Last Resort gave me with a second chance at life. Not to mention how they provided my family with constant support and love as well. I am forever indebted to them and I can’t express enough how truly special a place The Last Resort truly is.”

“As a family member, I cannot say enough GOOD things about the Last Resort Recovery Center and all the staff. They are A1, top notch, and a very wonderful but strict place to get your life back on track. TLR was a Godsend to me and my family – but most of all to my husband Tim!! He has been such a happier, healthier and positive man since his time there. I truly feel God had his hand on us finding this place for Tim. It has saved my husband’s life and has also given my son his Dad back.
“Nothing in life is 100 percent perfect, but as far as I am concerned, Tim is alive and doing so much better with the caring, loving, supportive and sometimes tough love from the guys at the Last Resort. Tim loves each and every one of them, and either talks, emails or texts one of them on a daily basis. They are still very tight and have stayed together to start and share their new life. Thanks to the Last Resort more than words can ever say.”

“When I arrived at The Last Resort, I was at a point in my life, of having run out of options. I had attended A.A. meetings and had tried not drinking or only drinking in certain situations, or promising this or that to myself and to my family friends and co-workers. Well, needless to say, my way didn’t work and the thought of ME needing help was, well, crazy in my mind. I didn’t want to see the truth or listen to anyone, I mean, hell I’m Superman! I can’t be an alcoholic! I’m not stealing money, beating my wife or my child or in trouble with the law. How could this be? What I didn’t see was that I was stealing time and losing my family, friends and co-workers, because I couldn’t see through the fog of my own alcoholism.
“The men at the Last Resort helped me to see the problems that I had – not everyone else’s –they taught me that life was not all about me! But it took my working the steps, doing prayer and meditation, and actually helping others…. I am truly grateful for the recovery experience at the Last Resort and if you have the willingness to change this is the place where yourreal dreams about your life can come true.”

“I came to The Last Resort in November of 2012, not knowing what to expect. I had been using opiates for 4 years and they had taken complete control of my life. The months leading up to my admission were very dark days for me. I would go to bed every night hoping that I would just be able to stay asleep forever and then I would wake up with my first thought worrying about how I was going to be able to get high that day.
“It was a continuous cycle and it had gotten to the point that I really didn’t even enjoy doing drugs anymore, but I just couldn’t imagine life without them. So there I was a 27-year old drug addict who felt as though he had nothing to live for besides the next high. I knew deep down that I didn’t want to do drugs anymore, but no matter how hard I tried to stop, I just could not. However, I wanted to stop badly enough that I was open and willing to try something different because every other method I had tried just did not work.
“I am extremely grateful for my experience at The Last Resort. I had a sense of belonging from day 1 because the staff and the guys were all a very close group and welcoming. They will always be my lifelong friends and I have never before experienced such a sense of camaraderie as I did while I was there.

“My addiction started out harmless enough: just a few prescriptions from the doctor, then the internet, then the street, then a full blown addiction. I tried to quit a hundred times. Sometimes I’d make it for a month, sometimes two, but I always wound up back with my drug.
“Then I went to Austin to visit a friend and to get out of town. I attended an AA meeting and felt comfortable enough with the strangers there to tell some of my story. A man approached me after the meeting saying, ‘I think I know a place that can help you; it’s the Last Resort.’ I asked him, ‘Is that the name of some place or are you talking about my condition?’ He answered, ‘Both!’
“At that moment I knew this was my chance and, for me, there might not come another. The guy gave me a counselor’s number and in two days I was in.
What I found there was the answer to what I’d been searching for in recovery the rooms but couldn’t seem to find. They put it all together and they put me together too! The staff was great and the guys were even greater. I now have nearly two years off of Hydrocodone thanks to the Last Resort, the staff, and the new lifelong friends that experienced recovery with me. I’m forever grateful. Thanks to all!”

“I want to express how grateful I am for the help Travis received at TLR! Such an amazing staff, I’ve really enjoyed working with them all, especially Ryan and Patrick. TLR is such a unique facility – Travis has been to several and feels the difference every day. Your staff truly cares about the clients and I’m just thrilled to no end that I reached out to you
“By the way, I participated in the family experience last week. More rave reviews…Brenda was fantastic as was the co-facilitator, Lori. Also I had the opportunity to meet Paula. She’s an incredible woman with an amazing story and really impacted the family members. We all got a lot out of her equine therapy exercises.
“One of the reasons I think TLR is so successful is the example of hope present in your staff. I can’t thank you enough! Please keep me in mind for any volunteer opportunities or anything I can do to give back. I know we still have a tough road ahead but even if Travis relapses, I’ll know that we did everything “within our power” for his recovery. Much love to you!”
