A Mother’s Perspective – The Last Resort

Dear Family,It was a blessing for our family to find The Last Resort Recovery Center. This was the second treatment center that our son entered, and it was very different from his first experience. The key factors that helped him were the all-male facility, the limited number of residents, and counselors and other staff who really held him accountable. Although somewhat difficult to adjust to, the limited contact with us during his time there was pivotal to our son building relationships with his counselors and the other residents and focusing on his recovery. His Recovery Specialist, Steven, really made him dig deep down to process what was going on rather than allowing him to only look on the surface, and I think that was life changing for him. While everyone at The Last Resort took great care of our son, they also took great care of us as parents. The weekly calls and e-mailed progress reports from Steven were helpful for us to see what the process looked like and helped us to stay connected. Austin also referred us to the parent program at The Arbor which we were fortunate to attend and which provided us with more information and tools to use as we walk through this as a family. The program also provided a time of open discussion with our son regarding how things had been, how we want them to be going forward, and what we all need to do to make that happen – it was priceless. If you are looking for a treatment center with a program focused on healing from all aspects of addiction, and staffed by caring, professional people who have been through the darkness of addiction themselves, I would strongly urge you to call and visit the facility. No matter what the future holds for our son and for us, our experience with The Last Resort and what we took away from it is something that will continue to be a blessing to us for the rest of our lives.Sincerely,Becky M.
