The Last Resort Recovery Schedule
The way that The Last Resort Recovery schedule is set up helps men create a lifelong routine. Through this routine, they’re more easily able to enjoy a sustainable recovery. A consistent rehab schedule also helps men know what to expect each day, making it easier to get from one day to the next without worrying about relapsing or how their day is going to go.
Diving into The Last Resort Recovery Schedule
We strictly stick to each section of our rehab schedule. Though it varies some from day-to-day, the way the schedule works is largely the same.
Each morning starts bright and early at 6:30 AM. Our early wakeup call helps men acclimate to a regular daily schedule, much like they’ll experience when they go back home. Afterwards, they’ll have a chance to meditate and reflect on the day ahead, followed by a nutritious breakfast. The foods that we serve match to our residents’ nutritional counseling, so they’re able to see what a healthy meal is like. When breakfast is finished, our residents break out into classes and small groups prior to lunch.
Afternoons are reserved for both learning and exercise. We believe that exercise and addiction recovery go hand-in-hand. When men are able to feel physically well, it helps them to improve their emotional wellbeing. It also helps them dig deeper into mens work to create a healthy foundation of masculinity. A lot of people also find that channeling emotions into exercise can help them better deal with what they’re going through. Instead of turning to drugs, the hope is that the men in our program will instead begin turning to education and hobbies like exercise that they receive in their rehab schedule.
In the evening, our residents attend meetings. Some of these take place onsite, while others take place in the nearby town of Smithville or Austin. These meetings show the men in our programs others who have been in recovery for the long-term. Learning from these individuals plays an important part in helping them see that living in sobriety is possible. After group meetings, the men at our facility have a nightly review and reflection before heading to bed at 10:30 for a full eight hours of sleep.
The only deviation from this schedule happens on weekends when residents have more free time and are able to go to sleep a little later. While scheduled events are important, residents also need to learn how to use their free time enjoyably and productively.
Why This Rehab Schedule Works
The Last Resort Rehab schedule provides structure, while still giving the men in our programs free time to enjoy their lives. The structure that we provide helps them better understand how to function when they return to regular day-to-day life. For example, having a planned routine doesn’t allow for idle time that could encourage drug or alcohol abuse. It also gives men an idea of what it’s like to carry a job, help take care of the home, and balance a variety of responsibilities. They’ll need to be able to do all of these things at the same time that they’re balancing their recovery needs.
Attending 12-step programs after a day of classes and structured work shows them how to incorporate aftercare into their lives, even when they’re busy.
Following a Rehab Schedule at Home
While men obviously won’t follow the exact same schedule when they return home, they can greatly benefit from the schedule that they receive at The Last Resort Recovery Center.
