It is time to switch things up if you think you are getting bored or uninspired with your morning routine. Getting bored is a bad thing in recovery because it means you have too much time on your hands to think about things. One of the best ways to keep your mind from drifting away is to focus on these five tips to finally slay that morning routine.
Catch the Worm
The old saying goes, ‘the early bird catches the worm.’ If you rise and shine too late, your entire day will be off. Even if you have to go to bed a little earlier, it is worth it to get up earlier, wake yourself up with a quick run or a bit of exercise, then a healthy bite to eat. If you rush out the door, you have little to no time to prepare for the day and get in some healthy food.
Baths are not a great way to wake up in the morning. For one, they take forever. Two, they are not as helpful when you are in a hurry. But, to each their own. If you want to bathe in the morning, go for it. So long as you keep yourself clean, it will help you start the day off right. You probably have never thought about why showers are a good thing to do in the morning. Mostly, you don’t want to offend anyone with smelling badly but you also just feel better when you have taken a few moments to clean up for the day.
Chug the Water
Waking up is hard for most people to do. The first thing you want to do is chug a pint of water (around 16 oz) first thing when you wake up. When you are sleeping, you are not taking in any water and your body is using water. A nice glass in the morning not only hydrates you but makes you feel more alive. It can also increase metabolism and jumpstart your hydration 6-8 hours after being parched.
Pump it Up
Waking up early not only makes you feel better, but you have more time for things you feel like you cannot fit in at the end of the day. Hitting the gym is going to be your best friend every morning. On top of all the energy you get from getting physical, you get a more muscular body and that can be attractive to your partner or potential partners.
None of the morning habits above matter if you don’t eat right. Learn to cook a healthy breakfast for yourself. Not only will it give you energy, you can use it as a trick to get your mindset right, too. The last thing you want is to wander into work with a foggy brain. Get your mind and body right with healthy food and you will be on your way to feeling like you are taking charge of your mornings again.
