The Last Resort Recovery’s Family Weekend

Research shows that family involvement is key to positive treatment outcomes. At our addiction treatment center, we offer education to help all family members get on the same page. When loved ones learn more about addiction, they are equipped to provide encouragement and accountability after treatment has concluded. It’s also important for those in caring roles to receive much-needed support. After all, it’s hard to help your loved one if you can’t take care of yourself.

At The Last Resort, we provide two distinct family-oriented programs:

  • Family Focus Day: This program is specifically designed for clients undergoing extended care at our center. Set in the tranquil and restorative setting of our campus, it’s an ideal backdrop for recovery and strengthening family bonds. Participants engage in a range of activities including certain elements of equine therapy, family sculpting exercises, and educational sessions.
  • Online Family Program: This program is a virtual two-day workshop that allows family members to learn and participate from their homes. It’s structured to equip families with essential knowledge and skills, aiding them in supporting their loved ones through recovery.

Both programs include the option for individual family counseling. In addition, we provide a complimentary Zoom meeting led by a therapist, available to families during the treatment process and following the discharge of their loved one from our alcohol and drug abuse rehabilitation facility.

Clear Communication

We know how nerve-wracking it can be to have a loved one in treatment. You’re nervous about their progress, health, and mindset. That’s why we’ve established an entire panel of family liaisons. Our team members keep you in the loop about your loved one’s treatment and recovery process. They’ll also connect you with local resources, groups, and services that can offer support while your family member is in our care.

Please note that discussion of a client can only take place if they have signed a Release of Information Form. While it is ultimately up to our clients to decide who we will speak with, many people staying at The Last Resort ask us to keep their loved ones updated about their progress.

Visitation Policy

We always encourage family members to visit with their loved ones. Our visitation takes place on the third Saturday of the month from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Before arriving, please let the client’s counselor know who will be attending and what their relationship is with the client. This will give the client time to sign a consent form.

Lunch is provided with advance notice. Please do not bring outside food or drink, arrive before the designated time, or bring pets. Clients are not eligible to receive visitors during the first two weeks of their stay (or longer, if advised by their clinician). Clothing items and cigarettes brought for clients must be screened by staff upon arrival.
