Alcohol Addiction can affect a person’s daily life and ranges from mild to severe. A person with mild alcohol addiction may suffer from binge drinking. They maintain periods of sobriety, followed by periods of excessive drinking. 

Some binge drinkers need medically supervised detox, and some don’t. This population is unique since they can put stretches of sobriety together but cannot maintain them for an extended period. At The Last Resort Recovery Center, we get to the root of the issue causing the alcohol binges so you can return to life and sustain sobriety.

Individuals with more severe alcohol abuse may have become daily drinkers and may experience withdrawal when they try to stop. For most addicts, detox is crucial. Withdrawal from alcohol can be fatal if not managed by a trained medical team. 

Once patients have safely detoxed, they enter an addiction treatment program that provides the skills to achieve long-term recovery. 

Drug addiction is also called substance use disorder. It is characterized by the abuse of drugs, illicit or prescription, with the inability to stop despite the harm it is causing to the person’s life.

We utilize evidence-based practices like psychiatry, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, equine therapy, and trauma and PTSD work to create the perfect treatment plan for you or your loved one. 

A Unique Treatment Experience in the Heart of Texas

The Last Resort sits on a beautiful 55-acre ranch just outside of Elgin,Texas. Here, the men and women we treat have the ability to get outdoors, appreciate nature, and connect with each other. Sharing your addiction experience with other sober clients is important to the recovery process and isolation can be a contributing factor of relapse. Disconnecting from the troubles in their lives and reconnecting with themselves, while healing from their addiction is an important piece of the recovery experience at The Last Resort. 

We provide an intensive experiential trauma resolution workshop called, The Healing Heart Experience. This experience is a clinically informed, trauma-sensitive rite of passage that introduces somatic-trauma-informed approaches, and emotion regulation techniques like breathwork, breathing regulation, art therapy, and music therapy. 

Additionally, we have a robust equine-assisted therapy program. When each client arrives, they choose a horse to be their companion for the duration of their treatment stay. This approach builds skills that will not only help them while in addiction treatment, but also in their lifelong recovery journey.
